In conversation with Kris Bowers

I was honoured to be asked by Buma In Motion to host a session with the very talented and hard working composer Kris Bower (Dear White People, Green Book, When They See Us). Not only is he extremely intelligent, articulate and inspiring, he was generous with his time, despite all the incredible projects he’s currently working on. Following on from the Netherlands Film Festival session, we discussed how best to work with tv and film directors, insecurity, the blank page, receiving feedback, ‘being the change’ and doing what you believe in.

Magical words from Kris that have stuck with me over the two sessions: “We’re in the business of human connection and collaboration, which can only be done to work and serve other people. Be selfless in order to collaborate well.”
